Ruth Gustafson, whose ambition was to be a parish worker has come close to her objective. She is the wife of a missionary. Ruth can be found in one of the American homes in Korea. Merland Howe ls filling an important niche in the musical world. He has organized his own orchestra and has a popular g1rl's trio called Howe's Howlers. He has copied Vaughn Monroe's style by doing the vocals with his band. Aside from singing with his band he is considered quite a hero in the Bob Burns circle. It was rumored that Burns' bazooka broke down during an important program, but the show went on, thanks to Merland's deep bass voice. The pass word, Wwhat will you haven has changed into Nnumber pleaseu for Pearl Kooistra. She has accepted employment in the telephone office in Sioux Falls. If you get the wrong number five consecutive times, you can be sure it 1sn't Pearl that you're dealing with. In fact, I'll bet you won't get the wrong number even once when Pearl places your calls. You seldom hear of Smiths being blacksmiths or Bakers being just bakers but such is not the case with Donald Forster. Forster is a forester. I guess he goes around and looks for bugs or diseases in the trees. I'll have to ask him sometime if flrebugs cause forest fires. If you see a passenger plane fly low over Salem one day and see 3 white hanky flutter out of the window, you will know that another of Salem's daughters' has just paid her regards to the old home town. You remember that Lois Kuyper was always up in the air, so she decided to become an air- line stewardess. I wonder if she'll hook a handsome pilot and settle down. You never can tell. We find that Alvle Gap ust couldn't ive u b k t w high school. After completdgg college he gas retsrngg gobgglemhfgegg hgef: coaching Salem's famous team,, The next big event scheduled is the game between the Gapp and Beckman teams. In his spare time Gapp is writing a book entitled, WHow To Keep Awake While Dr1v1ng.N The last of our Seniors of 1948 has found her place in the teaching field. She is the instructor in the commercial department in a Minneap- olis High School. After leaving Salem High with a typing speed of 40 words Per minute, Naomi Jean Nelson attended Nettleton Business College where she attained a record of 120 words per minute. Miraculous? Yes, indeed, but never underestimate the power of.a woman!
