Its spirit reflects the enthusiasm, the effort, the give and take, and the devotion of the students and staff as they work together to achieve. Page 8 New Dean of Girls Assumes Full-Time Position, Gurnee Flesher, Salem High's dean of boys and vice-principal, has been in the administration at Salem High School since 1942. Mr. Flesher was head of the boys' physical education department for three years before becoming dean and was coach at Leslie Junior High School from 1929 until ioining the faculty here. Mr. Flesher is a native of Salem, and he was graduated from Willamette University with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Miss Mary Elizabeth Gilbert has come to Salem High School this year from Chicago, Illinois. Miss Gilbert holds both B. A. and M. S. degrees from Wellesley College and she has also taken one year graduate study. Her first teaching posi- tion was in New Trier Township High School in Illinois where she was an in- structor in physical education. Miss Gilbert reports she has greatly enioyed her first year in Oregon.
