Music and Art ln our high school, students have an opportunity to develop their N :'-'1 talents musically in various fields. There are 184 students taking advan- il tage of courses in music apprecia- tion, girls' glee, and choir. The A and B bands number l30 players and the orchestra has a membership of 54 students. Some l5O students are enrolled in applied design, commercial art, ad- vanced art, and drawing and paint- ing classes. From this department two iuniors won gold key awards in the l947 National Scholastic art con- test, and Peggy Hedges, senior, won the National Scholastic award which grants her a scholarship in the California College of Arts and Crafts at Oakland, California.
