Library and Visual Instruction ' 'he- 'li Miss Isabel Goodnough: Librarian, Sophomore class adviser, surrounded by her statt ot student assistants. Projection Under the direction ot Mr. Brant, stage craft boys learn how to manage properties and liahts and how to tie ropes tor staae purposes. Besides the general management ot the stage, the boys are taught to operate the movie projectors and to set them up in the class rooms. A recent purchase is a Carbon Arc 15 mm Ampro movie projector complete with monitor in the operator's booth. Two l2-inch speakers are located at either side ot the :staae The new equipment has made a noticeable improvement in both the visual and tonal qual- ity ot movies in the auditorium. Commerce J .-av AQ -it Ujice Training Salem High students interested in commercial work are fortunate in having access to some of the most modern equipment to be found in Oregon schools. Salem is one of a few schools to have a soundscriber which dictators use to record their voices on discs. Transcribing is made much easier with the aid of a transcriber, another new addition to the department. Last spring a retail selling store was installed to give students experience in retailing or service occupa- tions Salem is one of two schools in Oregon to have a store of this kind. This course is open to both boys and girls.
