THE 1946 MARDI GRAS Nlardi Gras came to Salem high under the sponsorship ot' Civics clulm on Felmruarlv 8. ln this year's carni- val over 200 students representing 7 dit't'c-rent clulis presented skits in keeping with this year's theme. Prize-winning skits were as t'ol- lows: first place. lVlardi Gras Salad, Home Ececluhg selections from Naughty lVlarietta,', Crescen- do club: and honorahle mention, Under Seasf, Pep club. Bill Sharp was judged the hest individual per- former. Persons who deserved special mention tor their efforts in making this year's carnival a success are script and continuity, Al Lane, Bet- ty Lou Edwards, and Harriet Hus- ton: stage design and execution, lohn Griffith and Al Laueg lewell Gueffro-v, who composed an original suite for the musical scoreg idea, Buster Wilsculig specialties, Ioan Randall, and programs, lim Rag- land. Adviser for the affair was Mrs. Gertrude Smith. Assisting her were Nlrs. Gertrude Schisler and Mr. Del Ramsdell, stage: Mr. Geo, Brant, tickets: and lwiss lune Phil- pott, concessions. One ot' the main ohjects of the Civics Cluli Carnival is to give as many students as possilile an op- portunity to act on the stage.
