CLd.mZni4f4aCion School Board In every walk of life, in any govern- ment of any kind, there will always be found one group of individuals who are responsible, clear thinking and far- sighted. An acknowledgment of the services that have been rendered can, in some measure, repay that group of individ- uals. To the School Board, through whose efforts the Olinger and Leslie play- grounds have been opened and who have directed Salem schools to higher standards, the school extends its sincere thanks. Members of the School Board for this year are: Mr. E. A. Bradfield, Mrs. David S. Wright, Mr. Frank Neer, Mr. Walter Minier, Dr. B. F. Pound. eight I Principal Emeritus A tribute of recognition, a tribute of admiration, a tribute of respect, if ever deserved, is won by the individual who puts a sincere heart and soul into the tasks of life. Mr. james C. Nelson, philosopher and author, has endowed the students of Salem I-lighSchool for the past seven- teen years with an inspiration, with an understanding of life that will never cease to exist. He has molded in the minds of youth the one monument, the one tribute that will never crumble, the memory of a teacher who was a friend, the memory of one who is truly a gen- tleman and scholar.

Wolf will remian in his present position for many years to come. Silas A. Gasier During his Hrst year as Superintend- ent of the Salem Public Schools, Mr. Silas Gaiser has proved the trust placed in his ability to fill this office. This position is by no means new to him, as he has been engaged in similar work in both Montana and Eastern Oregon, Mr. Gaiser has given his entire time and attention toward the betterment of school interests and activities, and has worked out a plan whereby Salem schools will be more efficient and pro- ductive. Although he, has been here only a short time, he has made himself a friend to both students and faculty. SF1'8l'l

Qdminhhafion Ralph W. Tavenner Mr. Tavenner, a teacher and assist- ant principal in Salem High School, has in the past year taken an important part in many activities which forward the work of the school. He is the ad- viser of the Honor Society and of the photography section of the Science club. His other activities are in the High School office, giving aid and advising the many students who consult him. Dean of Girls One of the most important positions in SalemHigh School is that of Dean of Girls. The one who fills this place, Miss Mabel Robertson, has done so loyally and faithfully. In all school activities she has given her most ear- nest and sincere support in order to maintain a better social program for Salem High School. Through the organization of the Girls' League she has a personal contact with all girls, and each individual problem is her special interest. Although her posi- tion deals mostly with the girls, Miss Robertson has made friends with and gained the affections of all the students at Salem High School. flllle
