This year, S.C.H.S. made a new addition to the admin- istrative staff. Mr. Harold Bookhout serves as Assistant Principal and teacher. His classes include two in social sciences; geography, and world history. He holds aB.S. in Education and an M.S. in Education, and attended Southern Illinois University. SECRETARIES Pictured below are the three efficient secretaries at S.C.H.S. They are known for their friendliness and helpfulness whenever needed. Their outstanding capability is evident to all.

MR. B. E. GUM For twenty-nine years Mr. B.E. Gum, our superintendent, has run S.C.H.S. smoothly and efficiently. His prime interest is the welfare and future success of the student. Mr. Gum is the president of the Salem Memorial Hospital Board, vice- president of the Library Board, a mem- ber on the board of the First Christian Church, and vice-president of the Marion County TB Board. He is also a member of the Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce. In spite of the above time con- suming schedule, Mr. Gum is always ready to counsel, guide, and advise the students of S.C.H.S. 7
