Directed by Mr. Hanes and produced by band and drill team members, the show netted approximately S3000 which went into the l96l Tour Fund. The theme was Around the World in Eighty Days. sn QA L hristmas Magic Ah, Christmas! That incomparable time of the year when mysterious and wonderful things happen--such as toys that come to life. After being lulled into a misty mood by selections like The Christmas Song, we were startled into awarness by the appearance of live-size toys. Working hard all year, the twelve girls pictured above have cheered our teams on to victory and supported them in an occasional defeat. At the bottom ofthe T is a picture of the J .V. cheerleaders: Jon Brasel, Ann McMackin, Alice Poole, Janet Black, Marilyn Wimberly, and Mariorie Beard. Time and patience is the motto that these three men have. Helping with the winning season, Coach Kirk, Coach Deason, and Coach Bliss spent their time teaching the fundamentals of the game. ' xg- V, , COACH JOE THOMAS Coach Joe Thomas' key thoughts were the Go, Go, Go-spirit and self- discipline, and these helped him to have a winning season. The boys this year learned almost entirely a new kind of football. Fundamental- ly they learned how to tackle and block, and new formations. Coach Thomas, different from the years before, combined the varsity and junior varsity. ln this way Coach Thomas could see the most talented and de- sirable boys for his varsity squad . Coach Thomas is considered, on or off the field, as one of the best liked men in Salem Community High School.
