The band did many animated and intricate formations and maneuvers. Above are examples from a few of our shows. The Liberty Bell and the Capitol Building are from Salute to Sousa , the toy soldier and the heart from 'Romance in Toyland 3 the girl's face from Frankie and Johnny. The Salem formation is traditional, which we form every game in honor of our school. This year the band has made approximately fifty-five appearancesg including basketball and football games, pep meetings, concerts, Christmas programs and parties, and festivals. Nineteen members attended the Southern Illinois Band Festival at Altamont in December. The Salem-Olney exchange concerts were held February 28 at Salem and March 7 at Olney. Twelve solos and ensembles entered district contest in Robinson, March 123 and the winners advanced to state contest in Peoria, April 29. Our Annual Variety show was presented on March 31. The highlight of the affair was the appearance of Russ David and some of his orchestra from KSD-TV. To top off another very successful year, the band will take a tour to Washington, D. C., to give con- certs on the White House steps, as well as in many high schools along the way. Page Ninety-Four FEATURES xk XX?
