Gymnasium The main entrance to the gymnasium is located on the West side of the high school building. The gym., capable of seating 1800 spectators, was constructed in 1924, and has the reputation of being one of the largest and best in this section of the state. In it, Salem cage fans have seen many thrilling contests. Salem High has been host to six sectional, and four district tourneys. Mr. Edwards, who has had charge of each tournament, and the Salem basketball fans should be complimented on their splendid treatment of visiting teams, Whether or not Salem has partici- pated. ef'-ifi - - 'if'X9 Assembly Hall The assembly hall is where the students of Salem High School study or rather the place where the opportunity to study is given. This large room, consisting of twenty-one rows of seventeen seats each, is the scene of general assembly programs, literary societies' programs, and entertainments given by lyceum bureaus. Probably the most vivid memory in the mind of an alumnus is the assembly hall, where he, along with his classmates, was brought before the critical eye of his upper classmen on his entrance into high school.

Board of Education An old head is often better than a young one. Youth supplies action, fresh ambition, and impulse. Age with its experience lends its advice as to the worth of youth's ideas and impulses. Youth's enthusiasm knows no bounds, it soars, sometimes reaching a safe height, other times wavering in mid- air. A group of people, each one a finger for a guiding hand, has devoted its time and best opinions to aiding in the reali- zation of the ambitions of S. H. S. students. When the student has completed the re- quired course in high school, the Board of Education honors him with a commence- ment exercise, a program to award and to encourage him in continuing his education. Salem High School wishes to acknowledge its indebtedness and extend thanks to that esteemed body-the Board of Education.
