FOREWORD HIS year we feel to be a decided turning point in the long and successful career of Salem Academy as an educational institution. The Class of 1930 is the last class to graduate from the old academy as it was when our mothers and perhaps grandmothers and great- grandmothers knew it. Great changes have been taking place during the year, and the academy that we know and love will soon be hut a memory. VVe rejoice in the go-od fortune that has come to future students at our Alma Klater in the erection of the new buildings, but we shall never for- get our old academy. In these pages we have tried faith- fully to chronicle our precious memo-ries of Salem. VVhen in future years we turn these pages may we be reminded of the many happy times We have spent in companionship and pleasant associations with our friends and classmates in old South Hall. at if 3682
