After graduation from Broxton, Georgia High School. he attended Emory University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1965. After attending Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, Commander Summerfin received his commission in November, 1965. Wiegand, a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, served his first Marine Corps tour of duty as a platoon commanderfcrypto officer aboard the USS Spiegel Grove during the Solant Amity ll cruise, Designated a naval aviator in December 1960, Col. Weigand's squadron tours have in- cluded Flight instructor, NAS Pensacola, NATOPS Officer, HMM-364, Executive Officer, H8iHS-36, Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Opera- tions Officer and Executive Officer of VMFAT- 101, Executive Officer, HSMS-10, Executive Of- ficer and Commanding Officer, VMA-211, Air- craft Maintenance Officer and Operations Of- ficer, MARTD, El Toro, Commanding Officer, H8iMS-11, and Commanding Officer, VMFA-314. Staff tours performed by Col. Wiegand have included Assistant Operations Officer, Fighter- Attack Desk, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Expedi- tionary Airfields Officer, DCfS, Air, Head- quarters U.S. Marine Corps, Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3 and Chief of Staff, Headquarters, FMF Europe lDesignatelg Director of Standard- ization and Safety and most recently, Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing. Col. Wiegand has completed post-graduate studies in financial management and has at- tended the Royal Defense College, Joint War- fare Course in the United Kingdom. Col. Wiegand's decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross with three stars, Meritorious Service Medal, 32 Air Medals. Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Cita- tion with two stars, Navy Unit Citation with two stars, Meritorious Unit Citation, Marine Corps Expenditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Vietnam Meritorious Commendation-Gallantry Cross and the Viet- nam Campaign Medal. Col. Wiegand has flown more than 5,600 hours in 20 different Marine aircraft. Col. Wiegand resides at Camp Lejeune. North Carolina with his wife Beverly and son Brett. CTF Colonel Robert W. Crawford ,, .. - f...--.. -iv r COMMAND MASTER CHIEF OMCMQSWQ Lawrence L. After having spent 40 years in Naval service and seen 18 WESTPAC and eight MED cruises OMCMfSWl Lawrence L. Crawford is the old salt's old salt. He left the Navy in 1946, long enough to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas, but he returned to the Navy in 1951. He served through two years of the Korean War and spent six years off the coast of Vietnam from 1964 to 1970. When Israel and Egypt were fighting over Lebanon in 1956, he was there. ln 1974 he became a Master Chief. OMCMlSWl Crawford has taught PACE cources at sea, night courses at community college and plans to teach part time when he retires in three years. OMCMQSWJ Crawford has served the navy for 40 years. As Command Master Chief of the Saipan, he has direct access to the Commanding Officer. San Diego, Calif. and ITR he was assigned to Company B, 2d Reconnaissance Battalion at Kareore Bay. Hawaii ln October 1963. Sgtldlai Lambrecht became a Military Policeman at Marrse Corps Base. Camp Leieune, N C He was transferred in May 1966 to the 3d Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment in the Republic of Viet- nam Returning to Car-no Leieune in May 1967, he was assigned to Eng peers School He was transferred to the Career Planning School, Fleet Marine Force Pacific NOCWBTOJ on Okinawa in April 1969 to serve as the senior instructor He remained there until October 1971 when he was reas- gigrtegj to the 2G Marine Division Center Planning School. In 1974 he became a member of the Career Planning Branch Contact Team at Headquarters Marine Corps. In December 1976 SgtMai. Lambrecht returned to the 2d Marine Divi- sion and joined the 2d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment. He became the first Sergeant of Beach and Port Company, 2d Landing Support Bat- talion. 2d Force Service Support Group in April 1980 at Camp Lejeune, N.C Promoted to his present rank in December 1980, he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Group-27, Detachment MA at Marine Corps Air Station. New River, N.C. as the Squadron Sergeant Major. On June 16, 1986 SgtMai. Lamorecht became the Sergeant Major of 22d Marine Amphibious Unit, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic. SgtMai. Lambrechts personal decorations include: the Silver Star Medal, Purple Heart, with Gold Star: Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Act.on Ribbon, and Cross of Gallantry, with Gold Star. SgtMaj. Lambrecht and his wife, Kunie, reside in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
