Light radiated through service to others through- out the World is the spirit of the American Junior Red Cross. In supporting the Red Cross, students show inter- est and cooperation. As a reward St. Ursula Academy was one of six schools in the nation featured as school-of-the-month in the November issue of the na- tional Red Cross magazine, the Journal. Home economics mem- bers also assist the Red Cross in various domestic projects. 25

Concentration upon the art of mastering proper enunciation, pro- nunciation, and precise expression of thought in words forms the speech student into a pleasing con- versationalist. Writing and dramatizing skits concerning the Red Cross is a challenging as- signment given to members, of the speech class for Red Cross publicity. 24 nsmnusrnmnn Preparations Discovering that fiv yards of gaily printed m terial can be made into a Ursuline uniform is quit pleasing to Terry Lee. Seniors Discofver Lights Of Stage World The tempting of Mary Ann Wolcott by Judy Romp instills fear in The Red Goblet cast: Catherine Schnapp, Margaret Thees, Mary Maloney, Patricia Crawford, and Ann Marie Shamy. Senior thespians discovered drama in the unique presenta- tion of three one-act plays. They included The Red Goblet writ- ten by Gervaise Lemke, The Trysting Place by Booth Tark- ington, and White Queen, Red Queen by T. B. Morris. The Red Goblet, a legend of St. Francis of Assisi, takes place in thirteenth-century Italy. The plot centers around a glassrnaker who sells his soul to the devil. Through the help of St. Francis he is freed from diabolical pos- session. A secluded spot in a summer hotel lobby is the setting for The Trysting Place. This play treats with humor and under- standing the plight of the ado- lescent boy and his affairs White Queen, Red Queen re- creates a scene in the palace of Westminster on a summer clay in 1531. The play, a dramatic episode between Katharine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn, re- veals the steadfast character of the White Queen, Katharine, and the irnpertinent ambition of the Red Queen, Anne. The setting for the play White Queen, Red Queen der the choreographic direction of Miss Marilyn Huff- was conveyed by a sixteenth-century court dance. Un- mon, twenty-four seniors added variety to the plays.
