THE .SCROLL O Q 1 as as i 7' y iflix- ' if: 1.9 Foreword As we open to you this treasure-house of happy memo- ries, this twenty-ninth volume of the Scroll, we place you under the guidance of her who has been called ':Tower House of Ivoryn, 5'House of Goldv, Nlllorning Stari'-but we call her Mother. As you pass from page to page, with your hand in lVIary's you will be reminded that we, in planning this pictorial record of the year,s happenings, were thoroughly convinced that not for one minute could we be separated from Our ill other. Let us tell you why: As our guardian and patroness on this lifelong pilgrim- age, we have chosen Our Blessed Lady to keep clear the path in face of the dangerous attractions which might entice us to change our course. It is especially fitting in these precarious times that the protecting arms of the Mother of God envelope and defend us against the subtly insidious philosophies of life which reach out, threatening to destroy completely the reign of peace and contentment that Christianity brings to the soul who seeks it. In our four years at St. Ursulais, we have been instilled with a sincere devotion to the Virgin Most Pure, as the guardian of young womanhoodg we have been encouraged to look to Mary for example in all our endeavors: spirit- ual, intellectual, and social. W' ith M ary for our Ideal, and the Christian principles we have been taught' here as safeguards, we confhdently face the future as daughters of the Queen of Heaven.
