The Sophomores .... - Margaret Hancock,.Margie Morton, Frances Metty, Suz:n:1e Hartnett. Presidents ,,,, ..,. . . ,.... .... M argie Morton Vice-President .....,.... Frances Metty Secretary . ...,...., ,Margaret Hancock Treasurer ...,..,..., Suzanne Hartnett And now the stage is set for a great Sophomore l948-49 pageant. The director, Margie Morton, and assistant director, Frances Metty, launch the first scene, namely, the breakfast in Urban Hall on St. Ursula's Day. The blue and gold streamers, the tables in symmetrical rows, gaily decorated, the magnificent speakers' table, the long lines of white- uniformed girls, the laughter, applause, and hearty appetites-all testified to a complete and blessed Feast Day. The second scene, under special management of Sue Hartnett and Margaret Hancock, treasurer and secretary, respectively, was the Chapel Ceremony in November, when all students were consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Freshmen enrolled in the Apostleship of Prayer. The Messenger of the Sacred Heart drive opened at this time, an activity which proved bigger and better than in former years. The January scenewas an educational one. Book displays, craft work, art, and sew- ing contributed toward the exhibits which could be viewed in corridors and class-rooms- all dealing with the English novel, Silas Marner, which was studied by the Sophomores during the second scholastic quarter. February's scene kept us mission-minded. A movie The Story of the Vatican, was viewed by the student body after each one had contributed to a fast-moving crew of Sopho- mores, a donation for the 'foreign missions. THE SCROLL 27
