IHFIIF IT TAKES ALL KINDS TO MAKE THE WORLD GO AROUND. Sometimes this proverb is used in a pique ot ex- asperation, something like when Professor Higgins, in M y Fair Lady complains, Why can 't a woman be more like a man? At other times the slogan is muttered with the resignation ot the alcoholic who prays, God grant me the serenity to accept the things l cannot change, the courage to change the things l can, and the Wisdom to know the ditterence. But We don't use this quote as our theme in either ol these moods. Rather We say them with won- der and gratitude, as it to declare, in the Words ot another time-worn bromide, Variety is the spice ot lite, H For We tind the variety among kinds ot people a thing to be astonished at. And we look at the multiplicity ot types ot persons, ot talent and tem- perament, ot size and shape, ot age, sex and origin as something to be thankful tor. And that variety that We discover in Gods great world, in rocks and trees and animals, but preemi- nently in people, we seem to tind, on a smaller scale, in the microcosmic World ot our school. lt is this variety in the kinds ot people at Saint Mary's that we have sought to stress in this our l972 edition ol EL CABALLERO.
