Key Club ln keeping with the St. Mary's Key Club's An- nual motto- Enrich Man's Existence -the new initiates find out what it takes to be a member. From manicuring the lawn at the Bishop's office to building churches and picking fruit, the Key Clubbers are living up to their motto, while work- ing hard and having fun. Under the watchful eye of moderator, Fr. Les- ter Mitchell and the leadership of Fred Rael, Pres- ident, Key Clubbers fulfill their duties, sometimes at great personal sacrifices. The lesser of these sacrifices is the initiation itself, in which the new members are only required to wear a tie and have shined shoes for a period of time that is decided by Fr. Lester. National Honor Society Top L to R: Mr. Welch, Stephen Craig, Ioe Iarzabek, Diane Ross, Brian Burch, Sue Butler, Fred Rael, Paula Mitchell, Steve Olea, Greg Pentkowski, Magaret Kevane, Ana Gonzalez, Norberta Cisneros, Sarah Douthat, Irma Santa Cruz. Leadership, service, schol- arship and character are the words that represent the whole idea of the National Honor Society. Members are carefully chosen, and require ments are tough. Only 14 members made up '72's membership. Diane Ross, president, thought the club's size helped efficiency, and that members could feel a greater sense of unity. NHS offers a few advan- tages. Membership makes a student's record look good, and members may leave any class to do other work, if the teacher doesn't object.
