With your help, I promise never to offend Him again. Amen. All for Jesus through Mary ded icollon Behind every school activity, there is some unseen person who provides an incentive for others. Usually he receives little credit or praise for his accomplishments. So it has been with Father Ernest. The long hours spent on the annual and the tiring jobs for the Dad's Club are only a few of his many accomplishments. As principal this year, he remains as the unseen leader of all Saint Mary's activities. To you, Father Ernest, We dedicate this annual. Most Reverend FRANCIS J. GREEN, D.D. Absent is Rosalie Bedway, treasurer. The class of '57 followed the tradition of all senior classes as being the busiest group of students on campus. Clubs and teams, under their direction, prospered as never before. Besides boosting all school activities, they were ever mindful of graduation and the future. It will long be remembered that this class sponsored the most mag- nificent prom ever presented in the S.M. gym. The annual staff wishes the graduates much success and happiness in their conquests of new vistas. Sprinting from school to high school was a big jump for the class of '60. Adjusting to new Curriculums, meeting new friends, discovering the excitement of S.M.- tradition, and standing up under the taunts of the upperclassmen may have seemed difficult, but our freshmen came through with few scars. The big years lie ahead, and they will most likely make them worthwhile. David Aguilar Carol Ainsa 5 Kwai--Q ' 'flf2?ggs-3,41-f 'cess-ii . Q --ww 55- f QP K 31 4. S ag, 1? is X fl ig? An honorable and soul-satisfying devotion - that is what these boys have chosen voluntarily. In daily life they give good example to other students, remembering the words of Our Immaculate Mother, that prayers and sacrifice are necessary for salvation. DEBAT Under the guidance of Fr. Barnabas, O.F.M., St. Mary's debators compiled a respectable 7-5 record during the hrst semester. The teams also competed in meets at Los Angeles, Tucson, and Tempe. The resulting innovation meant rush and hard work but the annual staff agrees it was worth their while and they proudly present: EL CABALLERO 1957. Dick Woods, Glynnie Montgomery and Mike Voita construct the sports layout. Copyists Roberta Eccleston and Allana Wilson spend much of the time writing captions for the numerous pictures. Typists Juanita Griego and Linda Houle busy themselves with the all- important chore of transcribing writeups. Alexandra Bakowycz and Carole Campbell have la- bored over the modern artwork in this year's El Caballero. In making up any annu- al, there are a thousand and one odd jobs that re- quire many varied skills. Most of these tiring jobs were done by those on the staff who have no of- ficial title or special duty. They all played an im- portant part in compos- ing your El Caballero. TH E KNIGH' During the past school year the Knight reached the students of St. Mary's after many tedious hours on the part of Helene Carr and her hardworking staff who solicited ads, interviewed, gath- ered school news, toiled over copy sheets in order to present to the stu- dents a popular, worthwhile publica- tion with the latest news of school happenings. The never-ending worry of meeting a deadline was only one of the many ordeals overcome by this capable group. ' As editor of the school paper, The Knight, Helene Carr has not only shown initiative and efiiciency, but she has faced the task before her and proved her talents to edit such an excellent paper Well-deserved praise goes to her and her competent staff. ,..
