The Senior Class of 1958 dedicates this volume of the Raider to Father Arthur O. Verdieck, S.J., to acknowledge his outstanding, dynamic achievements here at Regis High School. With his apostolic zeal, fearless determination, and strong personality, he has enthusiastically organized many important school functions, such as athletic and social events, and, in addition to this, he has ensured large attendance at these functions. He has secured badly needed athletic equipment for the varsity teams. After conceiving the idea of track at Regis, he has successfully directed the constnrction of the track itself and has organized an efficient track team in the space of only one year. And, perhaps most of all, besides being a fine and wonderful teacher, he has always been and always will be a constant source of friendship and helpful, fatherly advice to many of the students at Regis. Father Verdieck will be long remembered for these things by the students that he knew and taught. Truly has he lived up to the standards of the founder of his order, St. Ignatius Loyola.

Dear Regis Graduate of 1958: To us, the terms high school and preparatory school are interchangeable. Therefore, your studies at Regis High School have been designed to prepare you for the future. For those of you who now terminate formal study, let us say you should have been prepared to live an orderly life and to have the ca- pacity to master the essentials of your chosen occupation. Those who plan to continue into higher education should have been prepared to absorb with understanding the deeper truths. I would urge those with this inclination to continue in a Catholic college or university in order that you might be exposed to the full wisdom of sound Catholic philosophy and thought in the fuller development of your talents. No matter what your immediate aims, let me remind you of your final and superseding purpose: that God is your ultimate Endg that reaching this End requires rigid self-discipline throughout your lifeg that when your life is over the ultimate inquiry will not be Was he healthy, wealthy, and wise? but rather Did he reach Cod? Use the talents and powers developed at Regis in reaching Cod -- your prin- ciples of straight thinking, your knowledge of truth and goodness, your lively , abiding faith in Cod. Lastly, be assured that our prayers for your ultimate success shall never cease. Sincerely, Q Richard F. Ryan, S.J. President.
