coLL1Ns, ROGER W. KELLY, 1osEPH ENGLISH DIPLOMA V isNcai.isH DIPi.oMA Second Honors l. Z, Raider News 4: Football: Clovers I. Senior Student Council Seated: Carlin, L.g Brown, G Standing: Hardigan, W.: Havorka, G. The Sodality Student Council, holding its weekly meetings at 8:30 on Friday, took up the greater part of its time discussing and explaining various school regulations. Several school dances were sponsored and promoted by the council and plans were made to conduct a mid-year assembly in the gymnasium. Due to extended cold weather, however, the assembly was postponed until March 8. A suggestion box was conveniently placed for the use of the studentsg each Friday a council committee met with the reverend Father Principal to discuss suggestions and student problems. In February a telegram was composed and sent to President Truman urging him to protest formally to the Security Council of the United Nations the sentence of the Hungarian courts against Cardinal Mindzentyg and at Christmas this year a collection of toys and clothing was conducted for the aid of the Indian Mission in South Dakota. Finally, during May, the council took up a collection to defray expenses for flowers for the Blessed Virgin's Altar in the new student Chapel. Not forgetting their moderator of last year, Fr. Aloysius Gage, who has this year followed their activities from a sick bed in St. Joseph's Hospital, the council at Christmas and at Easter forwarded to him a spiritual bouquet gathered from the entire student body. Much of the activity in the Student Council was unseen and unheard but their accomplishments speak for themselves.
