J. V. Jones, Principal Mr. Jones has the difficult and responsible task of being principal of the high school. It is part of his responsibility to keep the school running on schedule in spite of extra-curri¬ cular activities ... to give the students advice about choosing their course of study . . . and to aid the students in planning their future education. tldoard op (ddducation There is probably no other group of officials in the community whose decisions are so far- reaching in their influence as the Board of Edu¬ cation. The board members must necessarily think ahead of the public, for they are elected as educational leaders, and in order to serve the public as such, they must be in the vanguard of modern educational thinking and practice. It is the duty of the Board of Education to accept final responsibility for the standards of the schools under its jurisdiction. Although it is a distinctive privilege to serve on the Board of Education, it also involves a great deal of work and responsibility. 7 o Mr. Blackhurst, superin¬ tendent of our public schools, we, the student body of St- Charles High School, extend our vote of appreciation. Mr. Blackhurst is known and liked by all the students, teachers, and his many friends, for his friendly manner and high character.
