We will always be if 1 he i982-83 varsity was young and also ineiperienced, but their winning attitude weighed this out. They also had to play knowing that everyone was out to get them. Success of individual players was the goal Coach Eustice set for his team, and said that team success was the way to achieve it. The top competitors in the North League other than Sahuaro were CDO, Rin- con, Sabino, and Sahwointe. The squad 's strongest area was the defense up the middle, accentuat- ed by the fielding range of short- stop Rodney Peete. The weakest part of the ball club was it 's young pitching staff Assistant Coach Danny Roma, a former pitcher and graduate of Sahuaro, was hopeful in improving this. It re- quired talented players and expert coaching from .lack Lehmkuhl to make this year's team a great one. Practices began right after tryouts in February and continued through the hot months of May. The twenty team members worked out four ex- hausting hours six days a week. This year the .l. V. team was con- fronted with a grueling nineteen- game schedule. The team excelled in all aspects of the game. The in- field players did exceptionally well.
