The varsity team began unranked. but they soon ranked seventh in the state. The team usually strives to rank in the top ten in the state, and almost always succeeds. This year's varsity team was lead by Gary Teel, Brian Pos. Sergio Peralta. Andy Chase. Brian Crowder, and Bill Brooks. The junior varsity team also had a good season. The teams recieved five freshmen that added to their depth. Toward the end of the sea- son, many of the sophomores made their way to the varsity team, and left the freshmen to continue their winning record. The J. V. team was lead by Bur Bateman, Joe Caser- tano, Brent Smith. Chris Lewers. and Nathan Johnson. The girls team. coached by Margee Laakso, once again had a winning season. The girls did an outstand- ing job of living up to the teams winning standards. Scoring the points for the team were Pam North, Patrice Casertano, Cheri Church, Wendy Glendening, and Diane Silver. First most you need clubs and a few golf balls. But most important would most likely be intense con- centration with a burning desire to win. The Sahuaro golf team had all these requirements to lead them to a winning season. This year 's golf team was no differ- ent than year's past. with its long line of victorious seasons. The team was rather young with only two Seniors and a bunch of new freshmen. What the team lacked in age it made up for with talent and experience. Many of the team members practiced long hours over the summer by participating in lo- cal golf tournaments. The team consisted of thirteen golfers. A winning spirit drove the golf team to the high standards of golf in the Southern Division. Top honors on the team were shared by Juniors Steve Kosnik and Duane Otte. Oth- er top players were Senior Don Brosnan and Freshman Greg Schuette. . xv- eg J- -sf: f.. 4. , I in...Q,Q-.-.T,r'H,32-7 ., 3.11 as A' at-.sh I .N LV-. 9 . 'rf-1 '2-. . :.':f-'12, S - GOLF
