SEPTEMBER Cougars adjust to straight sixty-minute schedule Paving of the parking lot, freshmen's free first period and the straight six- ty minute schedule, which most students considered dull, were only some of the unusual events which made this year's return unique. In addition, students faced the usual September hassles of IBM schedule changes, new teachers and finding a date in time for the Girls' League Mixer, the first social event of the season. After three years of existence, Sahuaro finally got its name on the school. The Sahuaro Improvement Committee ac- complished this with proceeds from their rock festival, Mortimer. It was the most successful dance in the history of Sahuaro, earning over six hundred dollars. Twelve new pom pon girls and the eight new varsity cheerleaders met the public along with the football team at the first game against the Palo Verde team. STUDENT LIFE 29
