Class of 1975 Sometimes . . . memories of days gone by may escape us; acciden- tially, momentarily, purposefully. Yet, we bring back those memories from time to time and shed a tear, smile a smile or perhaps feel that pang in our hearts realizing that , indeed , they are memories . . . times we may not recapture; only reminiscing can give them life. Only our own conflicting versions of spectacular as well as unnoticed incidents can suff- ice in remembering four years past . . . or , better said , four years gained . It is difficult to accurately describe our first year here . Impressions , emotions . . . these played enormous parts in our overall adjusting to a school where we were suddenly, frightened and lowly freshman. But then there were our seniors . They believed in us , gave us a chance to prove ourselves. This we did fairly comically as devils on Field Day, as Aztecans on Pan Am Day, as Cisco kids, and Small World Children. However, as we look back, our love belongs to our senior year. We finally achieved our status as number one . We won the Candy Drive , and invaded Disneyland like a herd of little children. We made SO many memories , we wish we had time to experience them all again . Perhaps we ' d change things . . . yet, we think not. Sacred Heart of Mary is not just a school or a place . . . it is an aspect of our lives. There is not one among us who can say that they have learned nothing, because putting aside knowledge that comes from books, we ' ve learned something more . . . something more important than academic knowledge. We ' ve learned to share and to love and to respect each other. That ' s a great deal to learn, sometimes the most val- uable knowledge one can attain in a lifetime. And we ' re grateful . . . It ' s about time to close our school books now, and move on to another plateau. We won ' t be able to find security in our ninety-three once we walk through those front doors. But we ' ve got to go, there ' s no turning back. So as we leave, SHM, remember us, think well of us . . .we love you. To the juniors, next year ' s mighty seniors, thank you . . . . you ' ll be the best, you ' ll carry on the candy drive tradition and we wish you all the luck in the world. Sophomores, you ' ve still got two more years to go. Make the most of them . . . they could be the best years of your lives. And to you, our little freshmen . . . take care of yourselves and hang in there. Soon you ' ll be writing in this space, trying not to cry, yet, knowing it is inevitable. To Sister Virginia Marie, a simple thank you for lack of better words. The faculty has our love. But you all know that . . . And so . . . wish us luck in our lives . Once in a while think of us , we ' ll be thinking of you. Maybe we ' ll return someday and let you know how we ' ve done, and see how you ' ve been managing without the mighty class of ' 75. And make memories . . . they ' re so important to look back on , in the quiet part of your mind , in the stillness of an autumn afternoon . . . sometimes . . .
