Junior Miss 1975 Participating in the 1975 Montebello ' Junior Miss Pageant competition from Sacred Heart of Mary were Lydia Alema- nia, Rita Hocharian, Teresa Lopez, Lisa Martinez, and Jane Pineda . These five firls along with ten other girls from the neighboring high schools in the city of Montebello competed in the various categories of scholastic achievement , physical fitness, creative and performing arts, and poise and appear- ance. Having been a participatn in the Junior Miss Pageant leaves me the feeling of contentment. The excitement of meeting new friends and experiencing the fun times was somthing shared by all of us. Junior Miss helped me realize how important my friends are to me and so in turn strengthened the bonds even more. The memories are countless, espe- cially those memories of the feelings of when you ' re on that stage with all those eyes watching you in all your splendor and you ' ve got that wide smile across your face because you ' re proud. Rita Hocharian Being in the Junior Miss Pageant was something very special to me. It helped bring out the best in me, while, at the same time, 1 met girls both from Schurr and Montebello. I made new friends and also strengthened my friendships with the girls form my school . Everyone worked together toward a common goal. There was no competitive feeling among us. The pageant was both exciting and beautiful and when it was all over, it left me happy yet sad. I will always treasure that memories and friends that the Junior Miss Pageant has left me. Lisa Martinez I had the opportunity to be a participant of junior Miss and I ' m glad. It was a fun experience because I met many fan- tastic seniors from other high schools. Practicing the routines were a bundle of laughs! And when it came to the real thing, it was beautiful to see all the girls in their best. I ' ll always remember the happy and sad moments we all went through, especially that spirit of unity we had. Lydia Alemania Winner of the Creative nd Performing Arts Category Being involved in the Junior Miss Pag- eant was a great experience for me because it showed me that a group of girls from everywhere could pull together and work towards one common goal - a beau- tiful show. I also enjoyed meeting many new people and sharing the good times. Also, making those new friends made the long and tiresome practices much easier to bear. Learning about what other girls thought about different things by sharing opinions proved to be really interesting because it opened my mind to what other people felt. All that work paid off too - the pageant was really beautiful. The whole evening was topped off when I won the award for creative and performing arts by playing Arabesque. It was hard to believe that those long years of prac- ticing my piano had finally proven some- thing to me. Thanks mom and dad. And thanks to everyone who made this such a memorable event in my life.
