QQARY 'Nrcwv' Sacred Heart GAITIXQIX Sylva.. QKIHSS will We, the Senior Class of 1928 of the Sacred Heart College of Nursing, in twenty-four individual and distinct parts, being about to pass out of the sphere of training, in full possession of crammed minds, well- trained memories, and almost superhuman understanding, do make and publish this, our last will and testament, hereby rendering void all former wills or promises made by us at any time heretofore, or careless speaking one to the other as the thoughtless wish of an idle hour. And first we do direct, as the last injunction of the departing, that our passing shall be conducted by our friends and well-wishers, our Superintendent and her all-wise faculty who have been our guardians for so long, with all the pomp, dignity and gravity that our worth, our merit and our positions as Seniors of grave and reverend mien must certainly have deserved. We know that our departure will be attended by secret delight on the part of the Intermediates, because they will thus ascend to our proud and worthy eminence as Seniors, and by our Superintendent, Supervisors, Instructors and other authorities, preparing our way for a peaceful future, with complete surcease from all worry and every anxiety. We dispose of our estate as follows: ' Item 1. We do give to our honored Superintendent, Sr. Severina, our sincere respect, our deepest reverence and our unbounded admiration for her ability to manage this great institution. And we do herewith return to Sister Severina the remains of the hospital, trusting that we have not damaged it materially, or by reputation, beyond repair, reparation or restitution. Item 2. We give to our beloved Superintendent of Nurses, Sister Bertha, our heart-felt affection, our most earnest gratitude for all her care of us in our training days, our assurance that we know she has clone the utmost in her power for us, both professionally and socially. Item 3. To our noble faculty we bequeath all the amazing knowl- edge and startling information that we have furnished them from time to time in our various examinations and classes. Item 4. We leave behind us for our faithful Supervisors, an uninter- rupted succession of peaceful nights and days. No more shall they lie 49

fm V Sacred Heart G3e.rme1xSylOa. awake, losing precious hours of sleep, worrying over their patients whom they left to our tender mercies. And now we come to those of our heirs who are dearest of all to our hearts-our classmates, whom we leave behind, from whom parting costs the severest wrench. To our Preparatory Students, better known to us affectionately as Probationers, or merely Probes, we leave dazzling dreams of bibs, with all that symbol implies. We leave to them a rugged path to travel, yet strewn on each side with bright flowers of happiness and achievement, and shining stars of success and victory. It is the path we have travelled, and to our memories it is a path o'erlaid with satisfaction in spite of all its rough places and its ups and downs. We leave to them the sands of time, upon which to make larger and deeper footprints than we have made. And we do further leave to our Probationers our pleasure that we have had them to work under us, and our unbounded confidence that they will surpass our highest hopes for them. To our Juniors: We are sorry that we can leave only two years' toil and pleasure, but we do joyfully bestow upon them two full years of Future, with possibilities and opportunities exactly like those we have willed to our Probes. Unto our Sister Class, now known as Intermediates, we bequeath our position, our dignity and our title as Senior Class of Sacred Heart College of Nursing. We leave them the high standards and noble traditions of this school and pray that they may uphold and preserve them in such way as to continue the high and holy reputation which many classes of their predecessors have sacrificed to maintain untarnished. We leave them eager expectations, delightful anticipations and happy waiting days for their own graduation. Besides these large and conspicuous gifts, we do declare the sub joined list of smaller items to be the personal property of the Class of 1929 alone, and do direct that they be distributed as follows: Miss.McDermott wills her gait to Miss Lapchaclc. Miss Tate wills her cartwheel to Miss Otto. Miss Borowski wills her fearlessness while on Night Duty to Miss Rooney. Miss Quigley wills her saxophone to Miss Sefing. Miss Schantz wills her Charleston to Miss Roos. Miss Glose wills her bluff to Miss Bierschmidt. Miss Hahner wills her permanent wave to Miss Meyers. 50
