SISTER BERNARD MARY X + Y = patience in Sister Bernard Mary with inspiration as a coefficient. As head of the Math Department in Sacred Heart, Sister has opened to us the portals of the numerical laby¬ rinth. In our junior year she tutored us in the position of upper classmen. Her diligence in the nurturing and promotion of Our Lady of Divine Providence Sodality will long be appre¬ ciated. Swift in stride and deep in devotion, Sister will be our friend forever. Sister Bernard Mary SISTER JOHNETTE Sister Johnette will never be obscured in the hallowed memories of the Class of ' 62. Under Sister ' s direction new ideas and discussions emerged in the Social Studies Club to make us better citizens. Long, laborious hours in the library reflect her s heer devotion to Sacred Heart ' s students. Our appreciation for litera¬ ture was nourished under Sister ' s patience and friendly persuasion. The lofty ideals for which Sister Johnette gave us the starting signal will remain with us through the years. Sister M. Johnette SISTER GERTRUDE Quo vadis ? If lost in the battles of the Trojan War, all pathways lead to Sister Gertrude. Every member of our class has at some time been the recipient of her kindly assistance and encouragement. Sister is as wealthy in knowl¬ edge as she is generous in its distribution. So much a part of Sacred Heart, Sister ' s memory will remain hallowed in our hearts. Sister M. Gertrude 8

SISTER NOEL Sister Noel, in our estimation, is the busiest person on God ' s earth. Her position as senior home-room teacher is complemented by a host of other duties and a weighty schedule of studies. It was Sister who grounded us in the rudiments of English and gave us our boot training in vocab¬ ulary. We are always awed by organization and order which dominate her service. The endless hours Sister poured into this yearbook vividly acclaim her unrelenting sacrifice. Her warm smile and effervescent spirit will be sorely missed by each of us. Sister M. Noel SISTER IDA MARY Sister Ida Mary is an authority on everything from Eienstein to ectoplasm. A storehouse of scientific sagacity, Sister has tugged us over the threshold into the deep hallways of learning. And despite her heavy schedule, she has never failed to pause when advice or assistance was sought. Sister ' s dedication to our welfare has been witnessed incessantly and we shall never be able to recompense her for all the good done in our behalf. Sister Ida Mary SISTER NIVARD Sister Nivard ' s dedication to that which elevates man serves as an inspiration to us all. Gifted in the engendering of beautiful music and art, Sister has munificently shared her talents with our class. Under Sister Nivard ' s capable dir¬ ection and teaching, the band, the orchestra, and the well-known string group have frequently performed with distinction of which Sacred Heart is justly proud. Whether participating actively in or joining the audience of S.H.S. musical programs, each senior leaves his Alma Mater with a richer and fuller life. Sister M. Nivard 7

SISTER HELEN JOSEPH Sister Helen Joseph ' s strive for perfection dom¬ inates her altruism and serves as an encourage¬ ment to our short-comings. Typing and secre¬ tarial skills have been developed under Sister ' s keen and concerned eye throughout our high school years. Interest in our personality growth was always her major objective. The pinnacle of precision, Sister will be remembered with an apostrophe-back-space-period by the Class of ' 62. SISTER ROSALIE Sister Rosalie is a friend to every member of our class. An artist of song and patience, she has fostered the flowering of our vocal potential Also, Sister has rooted us in the rudiments of flowing French. The love and loyalty that she has given us will never be fully realized until eternity. With a song in our hearts we shall always remember Sister Rosalie. SISTER MARY CECILE From Pompey to conjugations Sister Mary Cecile has amiably introduced us to the realm of Latin. She bore our linguistic frustrations as nobly as our freshman frivolity. Always available when assistance was sought, Sister helped launch us in the newness of Sodality. Her untiring efforts have opened up many new avenues of learning which we treasure along with her memory. MR. GIL O ' NEILL Mr. Gil O ' Neill joined the faculty in September 1961, as a mathematics instructor and head of the athletic department. In both areas he has scored high in our estimation and his excellent work and adherence to principles serve as an inspiration to each of us. In addition to inten¬ sifying our physical fitness program, Mr. O ' Neill has fostered the full development of the moral, intellectual, social, and spiritual char¬ acter, befitting a graduate of Sacred Heart.
