FQREWGRD u5l!ignQttQs 06 'SQ' These are c'Vignettes of '59.', These are our high school recollections, now vivid but gradually fading at the edges with the passage of time. These are our impres- sions, now photographically sharp but with the lapse of years taking on the hazy quality of paintings on canvas. These are the recorded memories of but one of the one hundred and three years in the history of Sacramento Senior High School. But for us they are memories of a spectacular year, memories which will long remain among our most cherished possessions. This has been a year of new students, new schools, new achievements, and new loyalties. WVith an enlarged student body of 3,100, Sacramento Senior High School embarked upon one of the most challenging yet victorious years in its history. The construction of Hiram W. johnson Senior High School necessitated many changes of school boundaries in the Sacramento City Unified School District. This resulted in mass transfers of students to Johnson High School from both C. K. McClatchy and Sacramento Senior High Schools, as well as from Mc-Clatchy High to Sacramento High, the two traditional rivals. These transfers resulted in momentary chaos of school loyalties, but in a very short time new school pride and loyalty became ap- parent. This especially has been a year marked by numerous achievements in the name of Sacramento Senior High School. The athletic attainments during this year have been well on the road to all-out victory. Scholastically the attainments of the indi- vidual students have been of the highest calibre. Also activities-wise the display of school spirit and support has been markedly outstanding. All in all this has been a year of which we can be duly proud: proud of the part we have played in making it an outstanding year, proud of what we have gained from our education here, proud indeed to become graduates of Sacramento Senior High School.
