ll ll A FOOTBALL Iohn Vukovich Tom Weems Backfield Coach, Lili? Coach This year the Sacramento Dragons were faced with more than the threats of opposing teams. Many eligible players were .either working after school or had left for the armed forces. ln the first two games of the year, the Dragons overwhelmed the Lodi Flames 20-0, and then ac- counted for a favored Woodland team 7-6. Two games to the good the Purple and White were next downed 39-6 in a game with the unbeatable team from Stockton, who later beat Grant for the San loaquin Conference. The game with Stockton proved to be only the first in a series of defeats. For next McClatchy edged out a 7-0 heart breaking score. Then Grant trounced the local boys 24-6 in the first game and 37-0 in the second game. Thanksgiving day and the Dragons met the Mc- Clatchy Lions. In one of the most thrilling games of the year, Sacramento lost I3-12. Ending the season, the Dragons traveled to Woodland and suffered another defeat to the tune of 13-12.
