1119 A TRACK Opening the season with an lnterclass meet, the Sacramento Trackmen be- gan a fairly successful season. Approximately one hundred boys turned out for the events and many made a good showing. Coach Weems predicted a strong team with most of the strength in the dashes. In the field events the only strong event showing up so far, is the pole vault. For the first meet of the year the Dragons traveled to Auburn for a dual meet. ln the first half, Auburn seemed to be walking away with all of the events, but with a saving surge of strength, the Sacramento A team captured the meet 55 to 49. In the B division there was no question but that Sacramento had a better team. The B team secured a 71 to 31 victory. Placer won the class C competition by taking the last event, making the score 31 to 28. ln a practice meet with San Iuan, the following week, Sacramento won the A division, but lost in the B and C classes. Then, in the biggest meet of the season, the Dragon A's placed second against thirteen other schools at the annual Auburn lnvitational. All in all, it is conceded that Sacramento made a creditable showing.
