In fact, their playing time was nearly evenly divided although Bottaro was in the opening lineup the majority of games. Soulies has speed is husky and has a great deal of natural ability while Betts is an ex- tremely steady player of whom Janssen says He more than once turned the tide of battle by making a timely tackle or a fumble recovery. Trent Meredith the unexcelled combination of offen- sive charffer interference runner punt coverer and defen- sive player in Northern California C I F had capable subs in Alfred Costanzo Ben Anater and Howard f Hubner although the latter showed p - possibilities later as a half-back.
