PIONEER VOL 30 Published by Associated Students, Sacramento Junior College, Sacramento, California On the following pages will be found a record of the activities of the students of Sacramento Junior College. We invite you to glance through this looking glass of REFLECTIONS OF 54-55 ' SACRAMENTO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Board of Education James T. Harvey, President Dr. John E. Kennedy, Vice President Mrs. J. F. Didion, Wilbur H. Haines, Mrs. M. D. MacMillan Administration William J. Burkhard, Superintendent F. Melvyn Lawson, Deputy Superintendent; Arthur H. Polster, Ray B. Dean and E. P. O ' Reilly, Assistant Superintendents; Curtis M. Coleman, Business Manager. DEDICATION With deepest appreciation, we, the class of 1955, dedicate this yearbook to our president and friend, J. Paul Mohr. His sincere interest in us, his support in school activities, and his friendly smile make him a person to be long remembered. His unselfish devotion, loyalty, and untiring effort will remain a guide for others to follow in years to come. s- v College students in the year 1955 are to be congratu¬ lated upon the opportunities which confront them when they leave college. Business, manufacturing, scientific activities, con¬ struction and government, among other groups of employers, will be bidding for the services of these well-trained young people. This means that you will be able to contribute to the economic progress of our country as well as to provide ade¬ quately for your material welfare. The satisfaction of material needs is only a small part of the complete life. The resurgence of Church membership especially among young people indicates that the spiritual needs of students are being more adequately met than they have been during the past generation. More ac¬ tive participation in local, state and national affairs, is to be ex¬ pected because of the increased awareness of the importance of every citizen partaking in reaching sound decisions in these areas. LANEY, PUBLICATIONS DIRECTOR MARINA KEFALINOS BEVERLY ARGANTE PIONEER STAFF At last! PIONEER” has gone to press and the staff sits back and breathes a collective sigh of relief. We owe the very essence of our yearbook to MR. LAN EY, Publications Director, who was an indispensible guide in producing this book. Credit is due MARINA who did jus t a bit of everything” and satisfied our curiosity with current happenings on campus, at the same time she continuously ran out to get candy bars to keep us going ” BEV could always be seen seated at her typewriter surrounded by stacks of copy. She sure was a busy gal, but never too busy to make us laugh in crises. IV A de¬ serves a round of applause for tangling with all that sticky glue in back of the graduates ' pictures and for her faithful attendance when work was to be done. The faculty pages are the work of JANICE, cooperative in every aspect, and a great help in planning layouts. GINNY must know the alphabet by heart after alphabetizing the graduates over and over again. Although MARIAN was a mid-semester addition to the staff, she worked diligently. LYNN faithfully fulfilled her job as art editor. JIM who was responsible for t he sports section also did a fine job. Each one helped create REFLECTIONS OF ' 54-5 5.
