our A B C's and
was our capable
five little girls trudged to school--Shirley Van Camp, Dorothy
Piazza, Kathryn Swain, and Geraldine Phillips, to be the first
Under the firm rule of Miss Getman in the first grade we learned
to count tool!! Blasely we entered second grade where Mrs. Meng
leader and still we were the Dive merry little girls. Here we
struggled through the fundamentals of somewhat higher mathematics and learned to
write. Ah, but in our third year we were blessed with the arrival of two boys,
William and Donald McPhailL le learned our readin' ritin' and 'rithmetic to-
gether and soon it was June and Mrs. Eveleigh sent us home, report cards in hand,
announcing we had passed.
After a wonderful summer, back to school we went, this time into the fourth
grade with Irs. Stratton, as teacher. Here our little class added two more boys,
Charles Cady and Gordon Fredericks. Yes, it was the fifth grade we trooped into
now, where Bobby Orvis and Frank Patterson joined us. Under Miss Crouch's end-
less struggling we had at last reached the stairway leading to the upper grades.
Ie were very proud the next fall as we started up the steps, for now we were up-
stairs on the same floor as the high school, and to us, this was wonderfull!!
Donald Riordan arrived that year and now our class totaled 12. Miss Jewett
really looked after us through that year.
In the seventh grade Jay McGrath joined our band and finally Mrs. Brown
handed us our diplomas and sent us on our way. Soon summer passed and we were
again back at school. Janette Hughes joined us that year and
ready to take those all important eighth grade Regents. After
through those, we were all'at last eligible to enter high school

last half of the Sophomore year Kiss Nolan left us to get married and Hr Burke
took over her place for the remainder of the year We had a Valent1ne's Dance
that year which proved to be a great success We also chose our class rings
which were thought by everyone to be the most beautiful class rings ever worn in
the school In our Junior year Dolores and Larry Colin, Pauline Brenon and
Arlene Chapman joined us and Miss Trull became our advisor Our little class of
five had bulged to eighteen This was the year we made lots of money selling
writing paper, refreshments at the games, and magazines In June we decorated

year and our class totals nineteen This year we put on food
cream, gave a Hallowe'en dance, all of which helped us to raise
money for our long awaited trip to New York Miss Trull has been our guiding
hand through this year also
As we are about to become the graduates of Sackets Harbor High, we proudly
look back upon our progress and the stones we have turned in our path to success
