CLASS PROPHECY In the summer of 1962, after the second World Was was over, Dude Ranches became popular happened to be on a pleasure trip one summer's day, whem I came across a smart lilking ranch, THE MIAHOURE, on Chestnut Ridge I knocked on the door and waited The door opened slowly and a handsome young man appeared Wwhy, Gerald Kimmett Wwhy, Beverly Brown we exclalmed simultane ously Gerald 1HV1t6d me 1n and we had a long talk about school days Soon the conversation turned to Gerald's flnancial position I pondered over this for awhile Suddenly an idea struck me 'W1th a location l1ke this, you could make oodles of money' Turn thls place 1nto a Dude Ranoh'W W talked over this inspiratian and before I knew it we were partners The first day of this partnership brought many tourlsts Barbara west, or, as her public knows her, Baby Barbara lBaby Snooks the Second! came drivlng up 1n a luxurlous limouslne Her secretary told us that she wished to recuperate from a nervous breakdown caused by overwork that same day a man who held the highest posltion in the United States came to spend the night Who do you suppose was h1s private secretary? That's right Carolyn Castro Secretary to President Roosevelt Dav1d Hess, our class cut up, now a radio announcer in the R C A building, came early the next mornlng, before breakfast the same old Cliffy Gerald and I weren't surprised whem Mrs Wilbur Parker lJune Townsend! drove up accompanied by Major and Mrs Alden Russell CDorothy Goodrich! They were tour1ng New York State and compiling data for a new barracks Who should drop in next but our glamour boy Cseoond Clark Gable!, Harold McMahon, and his nation ally known lawyer, Alfred Lyng Incidently lconcluded on next page! S. 0. hostess and air hostess respectively came for a short stay. Florence is on an army plane commuting from New York City to London. Richard Hicks, Farm Bureau County Representative came on his monthly inspection tour. Of course Richard owes his great ability to Mr. William Davies Next week the Chief Terpsichorean in Arthur Murray's Studio, Blanche Parker, became another of our honored guests. CWI hear you talkingnl. Adrian Sullivan, one of the best dressed men of America, who owns a tailor shop of his own, made a Ugrand entrancen by galloping up on a spirited stallion. Just think we used to call him a man of few words 2 Dietician in Schrafft's, Dora Brown, came in to rest after completing a tour of candy manufacturing plants in New York State. Who should follow up but Ted Seidler, Admiral in the United States Navy! To top the evening, Roger McGrath, successor to Lawrence Tibbet, condescended to sing for us. That evening marked the first Cand Probably the lastl roundup of our entire senior class since our graduation 20 years ago. We were quite a class and had definitely made nur Nmarkn on the world. The ranch NIAHOURE was justly proud of her class of 1942. ---Carolyn Castro ---Beverly Brown A S P O Tomorrow we leave our High School We leave it but for whereo Our future is as dark for us As ne'er's been seen before Our country's flghting battles Their end obscure to all But need we fear our futureo Need we fear at all? We've studied hard together Our work's not yet begun. Some may study longer, Some may study none. Some will serve our forces ' Some will serve' at home. This was the year Sacket High School became centralized and was renamed Hounsfield Central School. For The A - first time, a Homemaking course was offered in which all of the Freshmen girls enrolled. Mr. Huttem nn was our Faculty Advisor. , 'The Sophomore year presented us with many changes. Mr. Skalko and Coach Cummings joined the faculty. We elected Mrs. Jerome our Faculty Advisor. She has been with us ever since. We inducted a new student-r . Theodore Seidlcr. Florence Secor joined forces with us this year also. Some of our boys joined the brand new F. F. A. club. Milton Bostock was transferred to Mass- achusetts. y In our Junior year of High School, Richard Hicks joined our class. This was an exciting year because we sponsored the Senior Prom and we anticipated various vicissitudes for the ensueing Senior Year. During tlis year Martha and Helen Dresslere-who participated in the Red Cross play, directed by Mrs. Jerome--moved away to Leominster, Mass. We missed them very much. Our Senior Year showed three new additions to our group, Those who joined us were Jeanne Jackson, Adrian Sullivan, and David Hess. Wilbur Parker and Hubert Spencer left school to prove their wor th in the business world, as did David Hess and Adrian Sullivan who left after mid-years. The Senior Year proved to be a bery active and stre erous one--in that we sold Christmas Cards, pins, and supervised the NIAlOURE-- all this in addition to the preparation for our graduation! To clase the History of our Class in these troubled times, we say--Goodbye, Good Luck and Pleasant Memories of the class of 1942. --Barbara West sg N 2' L6 Q: QZII .AX 'AN f i' i l' Y SKK f i f'3'i,ffQ1flfQHf, W!!
