PW at -4 ' 1 25534 f iii spin. New Teachers Join Staff In Vocational Guidance Last year's staff members were ioined by Mrs. Aleta Mullins, typing and clerical practice l instructor. Miss Shar- en Plett also ioined the staff teaching typing, business arithmetic and business law. Miss Jacqueline Spauldin taught typing, business arithmetic, business law, and bookkeeping. Bookkeeping was also taught by Mr. Oren Bates. There were four returning staff members. Mrs. Bess Skinner taught Clerical Practice l and Typing. Clerical Practice I and Il, and secretarial practice was taught by Mr. Arch Wrisinger. Business students Sondra Brown, Louise Gurrant, and Janet McCullough transcribe dictation. Learning to file correctly are Bonnie Flemming and Barbara Richardson. MIRAGE 25

ff' ff QA, f 3 V l I f 2 M ', ,ov Clerical Classes Aim at Teaching Practical Skills Business Arithmetic students studied taxes, interest rates, buying, selling, and discounts, all factors of the business world today. Business Law gave students an ori- entation to basic law. Shorthand students worked on theory and skill, with dictation speeds emphasized. Gen- eral Business aims were to provide educational and voca- tional guidance for students with interest in pursuing a business career and to lay the foundation for specialized Studies in business. Bookkeeping I covered the bookkeep- ing cycle. Learning the use of the adding machine and calculators are Terry Harrelson and Anna Cutrera. Jan Goodhue and Carol Curtis learn how to run duplicating machine in clerical practice. MIRAGE 27
