Bob Richardson took both the shot and the discus. The first loss was sustained to a strong Marquette prep team, 74-39. Again Richardson was a double winner. In the King Relays, now in its third season, we took second place back of Custer. At the finish it was Custer 88, King four points behind, 84, Pulaski 58, Lincoln 50, Juneau 44, and North 34. King set a new record in the high hurdles. C ln the Waukesha Relays King took fifth place in a field of eleven. Richardson won his two events and accounted for half of King's 22 points. Jack Gardner was second in the shot-put. In the first triangular meet in King history, with Bay View and East, our cinder men were successful, beating East and Bay View. Bottom Row-Earl Villmow, Earl Cbarlson, Egerhard Bollmann, Bill West, Marvin lsberner Bernard Ruehl, John Erck, Bob Witt. found that the hurdles were spaced too far apart for a normal stride and that shortening the distance between would aid the runners. The dash was cut to conform. Some of the standouts of the team: Bob Richardson, a junior, who took first place in the shot-put and the discus. John Whitehouse, who was a surprise first in the high jump at the state meet, and who won consistently in the dual meets. Elmer Gebhard, only a sophomore, who turned in wins in the half mile at the start of the season. Later he was transferred to the 440. The Frosh-Soph and MB teams posted wins against Custer and Shore- wood. The B team lost to Washington. The tracksters snared sixth place in the State Meet at Madison. In this meet John Whitehouse copped first place in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, SM inches. We finished third among city schools, with Washington repeating its last year's win. In the second triangular meet of the season against Washington and Wauwatosa, we were runner-ups to Washington, finishing with 61 points to their 90.
