Homecoming was nothing new for Sara. She was elected by her class to serve in the Queen ' s Court her sopho- more year. Being a petite, brown-eyed, brunette, Sara found herself quite busy during her high school career. She was very active as a cheerleader, class treasurer, and in addition, was active in various clubs and organizations. Although a very busy girl, Sara finds time for good books, parties and dates. : ' Standing, left to right: Linda Feazel, sophomore representative; Sharon Hotmire, junior representative; Beth Thompson, freshman representative (members of the Queen ' s Court). Seated from left to right are Sara Lamb, Homecoming Queen, and Barbara Osborn, senior representative. Autumn Splendor, theme of the annual Royerton Homecoming, was celebrated in early October during the Royerton- Winchester football game. The half-time show featured a colorful band show and the crowning of the home- coming queen and her court. Following the game was the tra- ditional homecoming dance sponsored by the Alumni Associa- tion. f V wt Barbara Osborn, senior, is runner- up to Homecoming Junior Carnival, Another Fall Activity Entertains Juniors are working?!? jAPU( Parents get in the act too, in the Minstrel Show. Football Opens Athletic Season INEXPERIENCE HANDICAPS GRIDIRONERS It was a winless season for coach John Livergood and his Redbird crew. In his first year of coaching, Mr. Livergood, a Ball State football star, was handicapped by an inexperi- enced varsity. Last year ' s graduation left many holes in Royerton ' s lineup. The Redbird men virtually fought and literally kicked their way through a rugged seven-game schedule. How- ever, the boys were sincere in their effort and the fans loyal in their backing throughout a year of rebuilding. Tom DeWitt and Marlin Craig did a fine job as assistant coaches. During the past year, many hectic hours were spent by the Royerton Journalism Staff in preparing publications. Meeting deadlines, organizing a yearbook, and gathering the latest news are responsibilities which must be undertaken by the members of our staff. These chal- lenges not only provided new experiences, but offered many opportunities for both unique and creative ideas. A very capable and co-operative staff was on hand to meet these assign- ments. Thanks to the patience and supervision of our journalism sponsor, Mr. Lam-ence Phillips, we have completed a record of the past year ' s activities. 74 Doug Johnson and Bob Shafer work together on project in Chemistry class.
