FRESHMEN FRESHMEN HISTORY We, the freshmen class of fifty-one, started in the first grade with an enrollment of ninety-four, in the year of nineteen thirty-nine. Now as freshmen we have eighty- - one. We had a class meeting and drew names for the Christmas exchange. which is December 19th. December 80 we decided to have a skating party at Gaston to which we invited the public. We are now planning our Biology trip to Chicago, but there are quite a number of things to be talked over. The freshmen class is very proud of our freshmen team. They have played two and lost one. There are three players off the team at present and it is a great loss to us and our team. The freshmen G.A.A. are to be initiated the week after we are back from our Christmas vacation. Everyone has cooperated and we are sureit will be a verv successful year, and the years to follow. EIGHTH At the beginning of the 1947-48 school year there were 86 students in the eighth grade. Since that time we have lost the following members from withdrawals: Cottar Elkins, Evelyn Jett, Billy McDonald, Evelyn Mc- Henry and Max Mullins. We have also gained three new members. They are John Colsten who was transferred from the seventh grade, David Battas who formerly at- tended the Eaton School, and Jerry Swartz who was a former Royerton student and who attended Blaine school during the first part of the school year. The teachers who were appointed as sponsors to assist the class in their activities of the year are Mr. Dutro and Miss McCosky. On the afternoon of December 10, 1947 the class enjoyed their first party. There was a movie The Cour- ageous Mr. Penn. At the close of the party, refreshments were served.
