Dances, fundraisers, and spirit week kept Student Council very busy this year. In the fall they at- tended a workshop at Richland Center where they learned activi- ties such as organization of the school's government and ways of improving the school. They put on the annual fall Homecoming activities and dance with the Senior class. A mix up with the D.J. at Homecoming enti- tled the Student Council and Senior class to free DJ. services which they put to use in January on the Turnabout dance. They also, for the first time, sold carnations for Valentines Day. It was a success, and they will prob- ably do it again next year. Around The World The main objective of the AFS club this year was to encourage Royall students to go abroad and host exchange students at Royall. Their second objective was to encourage Royall stu- dents to expand their horizons through travel and new exper- iences. They began to accom- plish these goals with a trip to the Twin Cities in the fall, where they toured a renovated mansion area and the University of Min- nesota, and saw a play. After the experience of big city life, the club made plans for spring ca- noe trips in order to explore the great out-of doors. Left to right: Front row: R. Ambort, D Green, K. Ahlstrom, L. Bulls Eye An archery club has been ad- ded to Royall's extracurricular activities. This year the advisors were Principal Runyon and Mr. Melbostad. The club had thirty- five members. Most of which were boys. Some members involved themselves in a car painting fun- draiser at Mark Rudig's in Mauston. The club raised fifty dollars for new targets, one of which was donated to them by a sporting good store. Archery met only twice as of March due to unavailability of facilities. Well Spoken Forensics unfortunately had very little student participation in 1986 probably because it involves memori- zation and speaking ability-just plain hard work. Participants choose their own per- formance subjects whether it be poet- ry, solo play acting or prose reading. To prepare for the season, the team attended a forensics conference at UW-LaCrosse. Advisors Kueppers and McHenry said The convention was a great help , students learned performance techniques. Square Roots Advisors Hawes and Calkins' math team had a total of 14 members this year, with at least two representatives from each class. The team competed successfully at several events, and LaVonne Todd- made All Academic team. 28 Left to right, bottom to right: Row one: S. Lee, Runyon, L. Thompson, M. Lenski, M. Birch. B. Vieth, D.
