STUDE T COUNCIL The Student Council has made a special effort toward unity between the faculty and the students. By working with both they hope to make Royall more efficient and fa- vorable to everyone. The representa- tives to the Student Council are elected by their classes. The presi- dent is elected by the entire student body. The Student Council organized the 1971-72 Homecoming schedule as well as designing and decorating the queen's float for the parade. I9 HQB Early in the school year, five stu- dents were selected to represent Royall High School in the High Quiz Bowl, which was held at LaCrosse. The four students and one alternate were tested on their quick, correct responses to high school questions. Our team competed against the tough LaCrosse central team. Ifonly Royall's team hadn't been so camera shy, we might have done better dur- ing the contest. NHS The National Honor Society is the only organization at Royall whose members are selected by their peers. To be eligible for the society, a stu- dent must acquire and keep a B + average. Initiation ceremonies are held each year for the new members elected to NHS. They receive certifi- cates of membership and cards em- blematic ofthe NHS. Speakers are chosen for this occa- sion to speak on leadership, scholar- ship, character, and service. After the ceremony refreshments are fur- nished for the members, parents, and relatives.
