Library Club Q. Q. ly The Library Staff is a two-fold organization combining a laboratory course ' in library methods with social activity in the form of a club the latter being or- ganized to encourage co-operation and good fellowship among staff members. The Library Club meets in the community room the last Tuesday in each H month where problems pertaining to the group are discussed and business trans- actions are taken care of The three main social events are Annual initiation in the fall a Christmas reunion party and a picnic ln June The officers are Nancibel Thorburn president Edward Heitman vice presi dent Myrtle Mow secletary Arthur Payne treasurer Miss Campbell Adviser Life Saving Club The aim of this club is to prepare swimmers to save people from drowning with the least risk possible to the rescuer The enrollment was 35 at the beginning of the semester but through the sur vival of the flttest there are 14 left The class spent the semester working on carries breaking holds learning various approaches and mastering artificial re sus ltatl0I'l Music Each year instrumental music is becoming more and more prominent in the Royal Oak public schools The high school band and orchestra are n ogressing rapidly and in a short time should rank with the leading organizations of th state Instrumental musi develops within the student body a deeper and more sin f-ere friendship throughout A more important phase however is that is furnishes several advantages as helping students to work their way through college o university The band and orchestra are supplied with musicians through instrum ntal class instruction that is given in the grades Through the method of class lnstru tion an unlimited number of students may b a commodated in a relatively short time National Honor Society The National Honor Society whose obgect is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship to stimulate a desire to render service to promote worthy leadership and to encourage development of character in the pupils of the hi h s hool has completed another successful term Th impressive initiation of the society was part of the P T A program and the Annual Honor banquet is a much looked forward to event The officers are Alistair Mitchell president Nan ibel Thorburn vice pres ident Ann Granger secretary Miss Fuller adviser Puzzle Club President Walter Ashton secretary and reporter Louis Gudemoos The principal purpose of the club is to acquaint those students who enjoy working puzzles with some of the more simple mathematical tricks and wrinkles as that based on the number nine or the magic square itself along with other mathematical problems and puzzles which have been famous throughout the ag S Radio Jack Warren President Wayne Zimmer Vice President George Stacey Secretary and Treasurer Mr Dyer Faculty Adviser The club was organized that the members might dis uss radio and make pra tical experiments along technical lines So far the club has spent most of its time gathering equipment with which to work R O Varsity Club Fall Term SDYIH8 Term Roland Shaver President John Soule Dougla Cannel Vice President 0810 Scott Clifford McClain Se retary GOI'd0r1 B211 Clive Aulph Treasurer Tom Jacyson Faculty Adviser Mr Rathsburg The R O Varsity Club at the beginning of the fall term of 1928 was greatlv EARN!!
