Q4 Class Officers Lily Vander Velde Donald Dean Ieanette Rumsey Alistair Mitchell Secretary Preszdent Vcce Presldent 'I 'reasurer Class History by Naczbel Thorburn Nineteen sixteen was the year that saw most of this class start their school careers in one place or another Some of us who both started and are finishing here are David M1ller Louis Matson Arthur Payne Mlldred Roy Craig Carpen tex Nancxbel Thorburn Douglas Cannell Jean von Eberstem Robert Folland and Herbert Berndt Our grade school years were rather uneventful The only thmg of note was our swelling sense of importance as we reached the sixth grade It was certainly lost ln the seventh Eighth grade was to most of us a terrible struggle with American history Little we thought ther' of that far on senior American history through which Mlss Moore and Mr Baird have so herolcally pulled and shoved us Then came the nlnth grade Green but Growing Mlss Gunns favorite motto for semors filled us even better then But we didn t think so Oh no' We had reached the height of class organization and our first offi ers were Donald Dean president Donald Douglas vice president Grac Spmney se retary and Jeanette Rumsey treasurer Oh that first year in high school' Lo ks for lo kers were an awful tural And the things we lost' Our mothers must count that an expensive year W were just plam scared of going from class to class and of Mrs Aldrlch standing at the foot of the stairs But we re used to changing classes now and w 11k and admire Mrs Aldrich very much We certainly felt a relief when we entered the Jumo year when all the extras hke Journalism and dramatics were open and you didnt have to take Envllsh 1 you didnt want to We were a carefree lot as we romped through our lessons to our club work and class activities such as the fish pond We made that fish pond the only good show in the 1927 carnival This was greatly due to our offi ers Morton von Eberstem president Jeanette Rum y vi president Arthur Payne secretary and Alistair Mitchell treasurer Then we became semors with the motto Work fox the Night Is Coming And how we have worked With Donald Dean to head us Jeanette Rumsey vice pres ldent Lily Vander Velde secretary and Ahstalr M1tchell trea u er we ha Je man aged to have a fairly successful year There were hot dovs and candy wagons and stationery stores and tickets to sell and dances and pot lu ks to mak us busy people The tickets were for everything under the sun Ap Jlesauce the car mval and all the rest of the events And the carnival' Just consider it Has there ever b n one like 1t'P Pool show cabaret Thank you Doctor Ann our carnival queen and all the other things made it a great triumph It IS the best that ever has be n gifen or eve w1ll be 1The class next year will try to explode that idea but we musn t let them 1 We have finished our doings at school but we shall be interested and look forward to the work of other classes 39144 19'-f5NdQ' 'EPQVQQ' 3544 QESY'-fiiffda' 'E' Page 6 Z I Q 1 Q ' 0 . . . . . . 3 .
