We, the class of 1986, would like to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Jones, Mrs. Faoro, and Mr. DiGiovanna for their concern for us as individuals, their devotion to their task of instructing us and their influence upon us as we completed our high school years. We hope that in the future they can look upon us with pride for the people they helped us to become and share with us the fond memories of experiences at R.C.S. Mr. Jones 22 Mr. DiGiovanna It is already tomorrow. Time, which never stops on its journey, will pass before your eyes, and in only a short period you will be members of the community looking back on the years you spent at Roxbury Central School. When you do, the photos, facts and memories in this yearbook will be your stepping stones to a happy reminiscence. There is a large-looming future awaiting all of you which ought to be seized aggressive- ly so that your lives will be filled with time well spent and years well lived. Take the future and let it be yours; make the world and your place in it what it ought to be. With every wish for a bright tomorrow, Robert F. Each of us knew him in a different capacity- as our bus driver, co-worker; students - as the friendly companion who took every sixth grade to Pennsylvania; and parents - as the man who worked extra hard to keep our buses safe, because of his genuine concern for the children riding on them. Ward was universally popular with students, staff, and parents - respected for his friendli- ness, concern for others, wonderful attitude and outlook on life, and his work-ethic was one that everyone admired. Whatever the circumstances. Ward met the situation with enthusiasm and a positive attitude that could not help but affect those he was with. And so, we honor his memory, a memory that each of us carries inscribed in our mind, a memory in which Ward still lives as a man who a life worthy lived of respect-bringing honor and dignity to every situation he entered. Ward Keator was a special person indeed. He left his mark upon us and we shall all miss him and the prominent place he played in our lives and in the life of the Roxbury Central School. He was a man who touched our lives and left us better for the association. 30 Front: D. VanValkenburgh, A. Eignor, M. Hulbert, D. Hadden, G. Bussiere. 2nd: M. Hinkley, M. Gebhard, D. Bennett, T. We want to wish you good fortune and pleasant days for the future. Don't forget us! 52 ANDREW SCHUMAN JUNE Reflected pools of light in shiny, waxed floors; well groomed lawns and shrubbery; warm rooms in winter; pleasant, well cared for surroundings; problems quickly solved no matter how messy they might be; quiet competence; pride in jobs well done; patient guidance for summer trainees ; all these were the outward signs of a man quietly discharging his responsib- lilities well and with care. The value of the man did not end there, however. His interest in the welfare of the staff, his concern for the students at R.C.S. and his pleasant good humor made him a staff member whom we remember with warm affection. Box 406A Route 28 and Fair Street Margaretville New York 12455 914-586-3064 103 Teachers have always been pioneers. They came to the New World on the first sailing vessels and followed the wagon trains across the country to the California coast. As a profession they have always dared to dream and found the courage to join those who sought the same dreams. Today the stars and planets of outer space cause many of us to dream again of new worlds to explore, of myriads of new things to learn and a multitude of experiences to share with those we teach. But sometimes, knowledge is an expensive com- modity and, for all our curiosity and daring, we are mortal. And so it was, that on January 28, one of us, Christa McAuliffe, who had dared to dream of new frontiers was lost to all of us, her family, her friends and her students. But we shall honor her by continuing to dream and revere her memory by daring to follow her into the unknown.
