We, the class of 1980, dedicate the Record to a gal who had us for her first class. This person has been at RCS for 9 years and is the head elementary teacher. She gives the kids a friend and a person to look up to, and inspired us to persue the careers we now seek. We are talking, of course, about Mame Johnston, and we, her little cherubs, wish to dedicate this yearbook to her. 3

We, the Class of '80 dedicate the 1980 Record to a man who has been with us for 27 years, Mr. Peter Parnell. He has been a friend and always lends a hand in time of need. Without him Junior Proms and Yearbooks would be an impossibility. His presence added something special to the school. His humor and understand- ing will be missed. Good health and happy retirement, Pete. 2

To the Class of '80' For all of us, Roxbury Central School is a very special place. It has helped shape your character in many ways — some of you may never fully under- stand. R.C.S. has shielded and sustained you, introduced you to new skills and knowledge, trained your intelligence, focused ambitions, aroused moral sensibilities, stimulated concern for others, tested your capacity, introduced you to new ideas and friends. The essence of our efforts have been to see that every student has had an equal opportunity, not to become equal but to become different — to realize and develop unique potentiality of body, mind and spirit. Due to the size of our school, we are like a family, concerned with fostering harmonious rela- tionships and mutually respectful modes of association. The Class of 1980 has demonstrated these traits as they acquired patterns of behavior and the abil- ity to build compatible responses to shared situations. I salute you one and all — some for academic distinction, some for aca- demic survival, some for many intangible contributions to the school, com- munity. and the lives of others. All of you for being an outstanding class with tremendous potential. Roxbury Central School — surrounded by beautiful mountains and the quiet ripple of water separating school and athletic field; home of hope and promise of deliverance from ignorance, storehouse of lifelong memories. May this school tie, now and forever, a very special place. Best Wishes Robert F. Prout Superintendent of Schools Robert F. Prout •Superintendent of Schools 4
