SENIOR CLAQQ 2 PiOuMy 7WRRRC0RD 3 _________________________________________________________________ The Class of 1977 is especially proud and pleased to dedicate the 1977 Record to our parents. The exceptional guidance, spiritual and otherwise, offered by our parents has made our dream of graduation become a reality. Our trials and tribula- tions, the time devoted to extra-curricular activities, could not have come to fruitful conclusions without the understanding of our loving parents. These are but a few of the numerous facts of our growing-up that we commend our par- ents. It is our sincere hope that because of their influence we will become better citizens, have a love for life, and have a deep respect for those around us. With the help of God, we are confident that because of them, we can help make a better world in which people may live - in peace and harmony. Thank you, parents. In November of 1976, Roxbury lost one of its most illustrious citizens with the passing of Lovisa Smith. Mrs. Smith was one of those rare individuals whose presence would be an asset in any com- munity . Mrs. Smith has left her mark in this world as a student and teacher where her achievements will long be remembered. In Roxbury, her efforts in the John Burroughs Association and in the establishment of Bur- roughs Memorial Field were well received locally, on the state level, and on a national level. For years Lovisa worked unselfishly for the establishment and up-grading of a public library. Her most shining monument to Roxbury was the new public library, which was dedicated to Mrs. Smith shortly before her death. A great lady has passed from our midst, but left behind ideas that the people of Roxbury, and especially her family, can be justly proud. ROBERT F. PROUT Supervising Principal PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE The Yearbook has long been treasured for its many reminiscent aspects. It is a special time when we ponder and evaluate the accomplishments of various classes. In this regard, the Class of 1977 is an outstanding class. They are a group of competent, self-reliant indi- viduals who have an amazing capacity for meeting situations in a mature manner. They have a very real concept of what satisfactions are durable and what are transitory. Perhaps one of their greatest assets is the desire to be of real, meaningful service. In their activities, they have demonstrated that when they turn their energy, ability and talent toward helping others, they do themselves proud in what they accomplish. Congratulations to an outstanding class! Best wishes PETER PARNELL MARIAN JOHNSTON Head High School Teacher Head Elementary Teacher 6 ADMINISTRATION Tenderly now let all men turn to the earth Nancy Newhall jti6 B owuL The Roxbury Central School Board of Education has worked faithfully and devoted considerable time striving to provide quality education for our students. Undoubtedly one of the greatest chal- lenges is satisfying teachers, students, parents and members of the community with decisions regarding education policy. They have listened to these various groups and responded with whatever response was in the best interest of the students of Roxbury and their education.
