ROXBURY CE TRAL CHOOL ALMA ATER R. H. S. let ue always be loyalg Let ue all to your dear name be true, Give our all to your fame and your glory- Our strength and our love to you. As the sun sets all gold to the westward, There is never a doubt nor a fear That dear Roxbury High is the beet school- Alma Mater, we give thee our cheer. 1 l -Ht A I i I E 3 LM, DEDICATIO We, the Senior Class of 1950, dedicate our yearbook to Miss Susan B. RO0t,Wh0B8 kindness, loyalty, and friendly humor have made our four years in high school happy and satisfying. We also wish to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Roland Ross, who has devoted many hours of valuable time toward our recreational needs. We greatly appreciate his generous cooperation and untiring efforts. 2 EDITORIAL CLASS MOTTO: 'Your future lies before you like a sheet of drifting snow, Be careful how you tread it, for every mark will show.' We, the Seniors of 1950, are standing before the door to a new and different life. Before us are the problems that face every Senior as he steps through that door. We must face these problems as they come, one by one, and not let failure discourage us. we must begin to think for ourselves. We shall have to remember to dress warmly before we go out, because no one will remind us. Yes, now we are really on our own, Mother won't be there to carry our burdens for us. As we open the door that stands before us, a blast of piercing wind strikes us directly in the face. Will we stumble and turn back to the door? But that would be useless-because the door is closed and won't open on this side. We must face the storm and be sure to keep our heads high, be- cause down this big street are many one-way streets. It might be easier to take one of these side streets because the storm is shut out by the dark walls around you. These small streets represent the slums of every city and town. Here are the men who have no courage, pride, or Nget-up and go.' They are in a rut and will be forgotten. May all of our class continue down Main Street and face the blizzard, even though it may sting our faces. Some who have already reached the top may criticize every move we make. In our Journey down Main Street we shall encounter a hill. We shall be tired, but when we reach the top we will have attained success. Success 1sn't innate, it has to be gained by a series of accomplishments. 0 0 o 0 0 ' 0 0 0 6 0 0 0 ' a o 0 G G 0 0 0 O 5 0 0 'U 61 oxk 0 ,J..5 0 0 O 0 gp 0 3 F V I 1 RECORD BOARD First row: Anne Hopk1ns,John Ruese11,Bob Shult1s,Ke1th N. Although I had noticed no great change, one day I was surprised to find that I had become a water bird, namely a Water Ouzel. As I was hungry, I flew to the nearest pond and dove in to search for water insects. I had hardly been underwater for a second when a large flying fish darted by, nearly clipping my left wing. Somehow I recognized it as GARY TYLER. GARY had hardly passed when I came upon a Goldfish commanding a sunken treasure ship. Of course, it was BOB SHULTIS. A shapely eel went wiggling by. Naturally I recognized the wiggle as MARCIA MUNRO'S. Suddenly I was terrorized by an approaching shapelese mass. It took the appearance of a whale. I flew aside and watched it pass. Close behind the whale followed an octopus, struggling with a bullhead. The bullhea was try- ing to free himself, biting savagely. I guessed that LETA hadn't changed much, and I sure felt sorry for BOB SCHUMAN. A gunfish came by. It was chewing an artist's pencil. I decided it was NANCY BROWER. A large flounder wallowed past, accompanied by a Blowfish. The blowfish seemed abnormally quiet, but the flounder was nagging it in a loud voice. I realized that CY and MARION had become fish, too. Finally I spotted some food. A ggppy was swimming directly towards me. I swallowed him in one gulp. The guppy tickled my throat with his fins until I nic-cupped. I was shocked to discover that I had swallowed VERGIL SLAUSON. A pickled herring floated past. I was sure by its zig-zag path that it was KEITH N. I perched upon a sleeping turtle and watched the herring. Suddenly the turtle stuck out his head. Darned if it wasn't SKIPPY GREENE. A large creature with a face shaped like a flute paraded past. I decided SMITH had played.a flute until he turned into a flute fish. I caught and devoured several insects and was about to return to the good old air KI was getting dizzy from holding my breathl, when I noticed a Qgygg. I flew over and perched by the window of the dive? B helmet. 'Get away from here, you lousy birdg I'm hunting Marine life,' shouted the diver. Could it be that NAOMI FOSTER was still pursuing her interests? I shrugged my shoulders and returned to the atmosphere, glad to know of the whereabouts of my class M8593- ' By Nwater Ouzel' Caswell .sf Q 0 00 0 0 O 0 0 In In O 00 ob Oo 0 ra g . 5.2 1 N 1 4,-'XD 16 Z, g t- SENIOR PLAY STAGE CREW U M...
