MR. M.V.C. OF WRESTLING ■ TRUE SHELL SPIRIT Mr. Larry Milazzo, you were born in Alton, II. on January 28,1940, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Milazzo. You attended and graduated from St. Bernards Grade School In 1953. From there you went to Wood River High School for your freshman and sophomore years. Then, for your junior and senior years you attended Roxana High School where you played football and were a State Qualifier in wrestling. You received an Alternate Appointee from the United States Naval Academy In Anapolis but pursued your college career at S.I.U. where you received a Bachelor of Science Degree in physical education and psychology and a Master of Science Degree in counseling education. After being predicted to go “500 or less” the team went out and compiled a 15-2 regular season record, making believers out of everyone. This year’s team also proved to be a fine tournament team by winning the Mascoutah and Hazelwood Central Tournaments. They placed second at the tough Granite City Holiday Tourney. The Shells also captured their 13th consecutive M.V.C. Title, and, for the first time in 26 years, they won the Regional Tournament. Due to a change in I.H.S.A. Rules, Reginal Champs wrestle dual meets for the Sectional Championship. The Shells defeated Carbondale 70-0 in the semi-finals, and then went on to defeat East St. Louis 40-21 in the finals to claim their first undisputed Sectional Championship and earn a berth in the Team State Finals. The only individual to go to State was freshman Eric Roberson who placed 3rd at Sectionals. Despite their huge success the Shells will only lose three seniors. They Are: 112 lbs. 138 lbs. 167 lbs.
