Some members have been playing since elementary school. For one who marches with the Raiders, rhe sched- ule IS demanding Because of their superior repuro- rion OS performers, Rowland ' s bond has mode the school ' s name known around Southern Colifornio. Their hon- ors include leading rhe Fobulous Christmas Lone Parade in December, 1982, placing first in their doss at the Colton Bond Review, and placing eighth in the Double A cotogory ot the All Western Bond Review in Long Deoch. Again, the bond was o parr of rhe Son Diego Moytime Bond Review and marched at Disneyland on June 4 An additional honor was gained when Senior Rick Norns served as o herald rrumpeter in rhe Rose Parade for his second yeor. The Raiders were one of five bands in Southern California to go on Q week long tout of Japan, where the bond members would have only hod to pay air fore. This prestigious honor was declined by the District school board, however, who wisely decided rhot rhe four months to raise rhe money would put on economic hordship on the students. There is o chance, nevertheless, of being invited ogoin for 1984, The bond embarked on a new venture in September when field show competitions odded variety to their ogendo. As a novice in this area, they hove done quite well, achieving two 2nd ' s in their doss. This exempli fied rhe Raiders ' most importont goof people worlsing together for o com- mon purpose that produces a sense of pride and belonging.
