The deparrmenr hos had rwo Word Pro cessors rhor rhe srudenrs use These have now been increased ro four machines Through SIP monies, Parry Lone, rhe deporr menr choirperson, was able ro purchase four compurers ro march wirh rhe Word Processors These unirs mode ir possible ro communicate berween two rooms and gove more real experience ro rhe stu- dents toking the odvonced business courses Currenrly, due ro doss time limirotions, the students do limited work for the school, but plans call for increasing the amount of work done for the school in the future. COMPUTERS CHANGE COURSES Two other areas in business hove experienced changes over the lost few years. The number of students participating in business classes hos risen sharply. Typing classes ore more in demand rhon ever, A good port of rhis increase, Mrs Lone stated, comes from rhe necessiry of knowing how to use a typewriter in order ro funcrion quickly on a computer, The other area that hos seen on increase in students is in Office ond Business Mochines. This class con now be token OS on alternate course for one year of moth This change come about because of course revisions the district has mode Rowland students who take rhe complete business course, furrher commented Mrs, Lone, ore able to enter the job marker wirh high entry-level skills These skills should give them on advantage when opplying for o job The department is very inreresred in rhe benefits o student derives from the business courses he rokes at Rowlond, In order to access the deparrmenr and its courses, on ongoing study is currenrly moniroring rhe job progress and employee relorions of groduore srudents from Rowlond This study will be used to evaluate future progroms offered to business majors, The deportment ' s goal is to provide rhe student with the best and most up to dote business troining needed to go into business or ro continue on ro college level business courses Mrs Lone concluded 132 Ousiness
